The Colonies

In the early ages, specifically the 1600s a group of Pilgrams left England to ecape prosicution. They feld to the Netherlands where they could practice thier religion of choice, but they didn't want their children the Netherlands (Dutch) culture. And in 1620 a ship called the Mayflower saild to American with on board a group of some of the Pilgrims in the Netherlands. On the Mayflower a group of men singed a contract called the Mayflower Compact, it protected each and individua, also they agreed to have fair laws in this new land. But the truth was that the Pilgrams were not getting along well, but fortunately a Indian named Squanto, helped the Pilgrams, he taught them very valuable things also, and in the end made the Pilgrams survive.

They Early History of the Colonies

Later on in American history there were conflicts in the colonies, because England kept raising taxes on teh colonies, because of past debt from war and such, and the colonist were not a fan of that!And they did the only logical thing they could, they protested! But the main event that eventually sparked the Revolutionary War was the Bostan Tea Party, it was in fact a very festive tea party! Some colonists dressed as Native Americans went abord a Britsh merchant ship and trashed it by dumping 340 crates of tea OVER BOARD!! (Ohhh Snap!!) And this really ticked off teh British and they really cracked down, I mean they forced the colonist to house solider to keep them under control, but this ticked the colonist off even moreso they went at it like cats and dogs! And eventually some of the colonial leaders agreed to write the Olive Branch Petition, which was a document that tried to make peace between American and England, but the King shot it right down to the ground!

And so the colonist started the Continantal Army, led by George Washington, the colonist have a rought start, but they finally had a turning piont at the Battles of Saratoga. ANd eventually got thier freedom. But the new United States was in big debt and they tried to make thier government stronger by passing the Articles Of Confederation, but it failed and so Congress wrote the Constitution and it is what we have today as our government.

Today's Government

In the Constitution our government was set up to have a bioamerical legislature. The House of Representatives was and is based on based on population and the Senate has an equal amount of representatives from each state. There are three branches of government, and they all have a special duty, the legislative branch is the one that makes the laws, the exectutive enforces the laws, and the most important ( because I was apart of it!) the judicial interpets the laws!
